Just Dreaming About Lightroom 4’s Adjustment Brush

Just dreaming about the next release of LR4 and a major advancement to the Adjustment Brush that would move this powerful tool into another level!  I did put in a Lightroom “Feature Request”  but I’m not sure the amount of faith I have in that avenue. There were a couple I submitted prior but they just did not see the profundity in them 🙂

I thought of this because of a similar type interface in Photoshop’s Hue/Saturation adjustment where you can “Specify the range of the selected color and adjustments the color range “fall off” (feathering of edges).

Anyway, lets move Onward to…
     Expanding Adjustment Brush Capabilities
          • When Using the Adjustment Brush in the “Auto Mask” mode:
◊ add a “Color Range” and a “Fall Off” slider to be “Brush & Erase” section

• These controls will:
◊ minimize the numerous “voids” in the mask by expanding the “Color Range” of the current narrow range “Auto Mask” mode  (see inset)
◊ Providing finer control over mask’s edge selection
◊ Overall, more “creative” control when using the Adjustment Brush in the “Auto Mask” mode.

RSS links work fine. Illustration and photo links work also, but the “full size” images aren’t much bigger than the article images – almost not worth clicking on them.

Bob, I thought it useful for improving our color adjustment tools. Looks like you are using it as a means to “refine” your selection, which is very original. You’ll probably have to wait for LR5, and your name should go on the splash screen if they use it.
